The soap base is best melted in a double boiler, but can also be melted in the microwave. Heating the base above 72°C can cause the soap to dehydrate, reduce lather and cause yellowing. Add dyes, oils or other ingredients. Pour the soap into the mold, allow time to harden, then remove from the mold.
